INFO:
Microsoft is shutting down Skype to mark the end of the greatest missed opportunity in tech history. Think about it — Skype at one point had everything. It was THE internet calling platform that had 300 million users by the time Microsoft acquired it in the early 2010s. Then, instead of doubling down on the product, Microsoft ignored it to focus on Microsoft Teams. By the time the pandemic happened, Skype was nowhere to be seen. Imagine if Microsoft had done to Skype what Meta did to WhatsApp. It could have been THE go-to messaging and calls app for the internet. Instead, Microsoft turned Skype into an afterthought.
